The alessandro de march gallery presents Were, There, Severe, (thin line), a group exhibition with artists Kitty Kraus, Nick Mauss, Judith Hopf/Henrik Olesen, Giulia Piscitelli cureted by Gigiotto Del Vecchio. Form is no longer representative of a standard content; the reduction of signs no longer necessarily tends to be detached from narrative, poetic, emotional possibilities. A reflection on the cognitive process in a complex dimension. The possibility of looking at a compositional approach which separates certain information from the main body in order to analyse them separately. An exhibition on the stated possibility of encroachment and perdition within the thin mesh of form, of narrative, of essentiality, of the poetic encounter and clash, of the physical relationship between the work and the spectator. A thin line separates us from the definition, a thin line that marks out form and content but which voluntarily tends to exclude all possible constraint of type, of mere gesture which may be either only aesthetic or solely intellectual. It is the choice of an aesthetic essentiality which is however decidedly expressive, pushing its raison d’être beyond the purely formal result so as to open up emotionally.
The artists in were, there, severe, (thin line) work at the limit, in that boundary area between appearance and disappearance, between the definable and the indefinable, between the stated and the unsaid, between current issues and past references. It is difficult to guide a cultural possibility into something which is already established, even though it presents itself as seemingly definable at a formal level. _
