short biography

Alvar Aalto (Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto, born 1898 in Kuortane / Finland, died 1976 in Helsinki) was one of the greatest architects of the 20th century. In 1923 he opened an architectural office near Helsinki. He developed a functional style and the integration of organic elements in his buildings.
