Giorgio Vasari (born 1511 in Arezzo, died 1574 in Florence) worked as architect, art historian and painter of the late Renaissance and Mannerism. He was a court painter to the Medici and an important biographer of Italian artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael. His famous buildings are the Uffizi and the Palazzo Pitti.
