Hou Hanru (b. 1963, Guangzhou, China) is Critic and Curator, and the Artistic Director of MAXXI, National Museum of the 21st Century Arts, Rome. 2006 to 2012 he was Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs und Chair of Exhibition and Museum Studies at San Francisco Art Institute, 2012 Co-director of World Biennale Forum Gwangju, and 2013 Curator of the 5th Auckland Triennial, New Zealand. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
