Javier Téllez (b. 1969 in Valencia/Venezuela, lives in New York) son of two psychiatrists, has worked with the mentally ill. In his films he turns the hierarchical orders between doctors and patients. He has been the subject of solo exhibitions at: San Francisco Art Institute (2014), REDCAT Gallery (2014), Kunsthaus Zürich (2014); Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York (2005), The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto (2005) and participated at Documenta, Kassel (2012), Manifesta, Trento (2008), Sydney Biennial (2008), Whitney Biennial, New York (2008), Biennale Venedig (2001, 2003), Yokohama Triennial (2001), Kwangju Biennale (2000), MercoSur Biennale Porto Alegre (1998), amongst others.
