Jean-François Millet (b. 1814, Gruchy / France - d. 1875, Barbizon, France) was a painter of the French Realism (Farmer scenes, social engagement). Famous works are "The meal of the harvest workers", 1853; "The Gleaners", 1857; "Angelus peals", 1859; Spring", 1873; amongst others.
