John Giorno (b. 1936, New York, d. 2019) was a video filmer, record producer, publisher, activist and an artist of the Beat Generation, who founded the 'Performance Poetry'. He developed an artist network and collaborated with numerous New York artists such as Andy Warhol, William S. Burroughs, Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Robert Rauschenberg and others. Creations were: "Electronic Sensory Poem Environments (ESPE)"; "DIAL-A-POEM"; "Matchbook Poems", "T-Shirt Poems", "Window Curtain Poems", "Flag Poems", "Chocolate Bar Poems". John Giorno studied at Columbia University New York.
