John Russell (b. 1745, Guildford / UK; d. 1806, Kingston upon Hull / UK) was a painter. He had been a student of Francis Cotes. In 1772 he wrote "Elements of Painting with Crayons" and in 1790 he became a Court painter for pastels of King George III.
