Kasimir Malewitsch (Kazimir Severinovich Malevich, b. 1878 in Kiew/Ukraine, d. 1935 in Leningrad/Russia) was a pioneer of Constructivism and founder of the avant-garde Suprematist movement. He showed his abstract painting 'The Black Square on White', which is considered a landmark of modernist painting, at the Last Futurist Exhibition 0,10 in Petrograd in the year 1915.
