Robert Ryman (born 1930 in Nashville / TN; died in New York in 2019) was a painter and musician and one of the most important representatives of Minimalism and Analytical painting. He participated at the documenta 5, 6 and 7 in Kassel (1972, 1977, 1982), and at the Venice Biennale (1976, 1978, 1980, 2007). Robert Ryman studied at the Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, Nashville; and at the George Peabody College, Nashville.
