A seredipi(ci)ty #06: OBSERVATORY

Der Schweizer Künstler Sladjan Nedeljkovic schließt den Ausstellungszyklus 2011 mit einer Installation, die sich mit den Begriffen Sehen, Betrachten und Überwachen beschäftigt. Die speziell für den Pavillon konzipierte Ausstellung sucht den Dialog mit der Architektur vor Ort und dem direkten Umfeld. Inspiriert von Kontrolltürmen und Aussichtsplattformen, hat der Künstler ein polyvalentes architektonisches Gebilde geschaffen, das er Observatory nennt. Um was für ein Gebilde handelt es sich genau? Ist es Ausstellungsdisplay? Design? Arbeitsplatz? Überwachungsanlage?

Wofür dieses künstlerische Gebilde steht, entscheidet die Wahrnehmung der Zuschauer und Passanten - ihre zufälligen Blicke durchs Schaufenster und ihre verschiedenen Perspektiven beim Umkreisen im Innern und Außen. Die Betrachtenden sind eingeladen, sich partizipatorisch im Sinne der Serendipität mit dem Schauwerk auseinanderzusetzen.

/Swiss artist Sladjan Nedeljkovic concludes the exhibition series 2011 with an installation that deals with concepts of vision, observation, and surveillance. The exhibition, conceived especially for the pavilion, seeks to come to terms with the existing architecture and its immediate surroundings. Inspired by control towers and observation platforms, the artist has created a polyvalent architectonic structure, which he has entitled Observatory. But exactly what kind of structure is this? Is it exhibition display? Design? A workstation? A surveillance system?

The ultimate significance of this artistic configuration can only be arrived at through the perceptions of spectators and passersby - their contingent views through the display window and their diverse perspectives when circumambulating interior and exterior. In the spirit of Serendipity, viewers are enjoined to interact with the display object in a participatory manner.
