press release

This exhibition of the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein presents ten artists living and working in Berlin

They belong to a younger generation using photography and the new medias and were selected because their works reflect the complex social, physical and mental transformations of the city Berlin. Taking Berlin as a subject for the exhibition has also the aim to use it as a metaphor for construction and reproduction of space or the urban awareness in general. The coexistence of different points of view and artistic methods produces a multiple perspective on Berlin with its architecture, inhabitants and pecularities.

The titel of the exhibition "Berlinskaya Lazur" is the Russian word for "Berlin Blue" and refers to the fact that the exhibition is being presented within the German-Russian Cultural Programme 2003/2004. After its Berlin premiere in the Martin Gropius Bau it was shown in March 2004 at the House of Photography Moscow and in November 2004 at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal during the Mois de la Photographie in Paris, with the support of the City of Paris, the City of Berlin and the AFAA.
