This spring’s large exhibition at Louisiana gives colour pride of place. Colour in art, in the world and in the eye. Louisiana has been given the unique opportunity to take its pick of one of the world’s very finest private collections of art, the Swiss Werner and Gabrielle Merzbacher’s rich collection. The works have been selected with colour as the cue, and in a dialogue with a number of works from Louisiana’s collection together forming an exhibition of colour in art and the many discussions of colour up to the present day.

In words and images and through interactive programmes Colour in Art will present ways in which artists throughout the 20th century have either made use of colour as an artistic resource or researched it to find new colours and colour systems.
