Die neuen Wilden will present an extensive overview of the figurative painting that blossomed at the beginning of the 1980s in what was at that time still West Germany. This art was part of a broad, international trend whereby in many countries, young, ‘wild’ painters rebelled against the climate of the art world at the time. The paintings are often rough and aggressive and sometimes downright absurd, but almost always humorous and thought-provoking.
