press release

Words are the raw material of Dominique Petitgand; sequences of words, extracts from recordings he made with various people, often the same ones, during various recording sessions. These voice fragments are cut out, isolated, repeated, associated with other sound, music or vocal fragments, and presented in multiple forms: discs, radio programmes, installations of several loudspeakers arranged in the exhibition space, or broadcasts in the dark, like a “cinema for the ear”. Mudam invited Dominique Petitgand to imagine an installation for one of galleries of the museum. The installation for five loudspeakers La Porte ne s’est pas ouverte, in the Henry J. and Erna D. Leir Pavilion, will integrate the Mudam Collection.
