press release

The thirty wood sculptures that Ellsworth Kelly has made over the course of his long and esteemed career are among his most beautiful and evocative works. Despite Kelly’s work being the subject of major retrospectives worldwide, this will be the first museum exhibition to focus on the essential and beguiling forms of his wood sculptures. The exhibition will feature a selection of works across a time-span of almost forty years and reflect the wide variety of woods, from birch to zebra, which Kelly has used to create both the commanding totemic forms of his freestanding sculptures and the elegant and deceptively simple shapes of his wall reliefs.
