Joseph Kosuth is one of the pioneers of Conceptual art and installation art, initiating language based works and appropriation strategies in the 1960s. Sprüth Magers Lee is delighted to be able to bring together several key works spanning Kosuth’s five decade career alongside new and more recent works. Kosuth’s enquiry has consistently explored the production and role of language and meaning within art. His examinations into the relation of language to art has taken the form of installations, museum exhibitions, public commissions and publications throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia, including five Documenta(s) and four Venice Biennale(s).
On 10th February 2006, Joseph Kosuth’s first major public art project in London will be inaugurated at 22 Leathermarket St, SE1 3HN. The project is curated by Laura Bartlett and is supported by the Arts Council.
