Zeno X Gallery is pleased to present Luc Tuymans' fourteenth solo exhibition at the gallery.Light, mostly indoors, as a claustrophobic phenomenon is explored in intimate, domestic spaces. Simultaneously, beneaththe surface, the impact of commercialism on our daily lives can be felt as a continual presence. The seven paintings wereconceived as a group and especially for the space in which they will be seen for the first time. Touching on the notion ofthe interior, the paintings turn themselves inside out, offering a reflection on how market influences and the spaces inwhich we live shape us with an almost invisible self-evidence.
Luc Tuymans has been the focus of numerous retrospectives at various international institutions, including McsarnokKunsthalle in Budapest, Haus der Kunst in Munich, Zachta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw and the first comprehensiveU.S. retrospective at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the DallasMuseum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in 2009-2010. A last venue of this exhibition will open in2011 at Bozar, Center for Fine Arts, Brussels.Previous major solo shows include those organized by the Tate Modern, London and Moderna Museet, Malmö, amongstmany others.
