press release

July makes movies, performances, recordings and combinations of these things. Her short films have been screened internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim. The themes of her work are often mysterious, but some are fears, dreams, experiences of becoming lost and found, female sexuality, methods of control and limitations of language. Her first feature film, Me and You and Everyone We Know, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Camera D’or Prize at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

For those of you who were introduced to Miranda July through her really terrific movie, Me and You and Everyone We Know, these two programs are a chance to learn where this person came from. July will show short movies, read stories, and guide you through the multimedia land she calls home.
