After decades of globalisation, people long for a stronger sense of identity in the objects that fill their lives. Many designers strive to imbue their work with the individuality and narrative qualities traditionally associated with handcraftsmanship. Often they deploy advanced technology to replicate the idiosyncracries and closeness to materials or making that has long defined craft. My World is the British Council’s exploration of this new subjectivity in design. The exhibition features newly commissioned work from seven British designers – Daniel Brown, Committee, Doshi Levien, Neutral, Peter Traag, Alison Willoughby and Wokmedia – each of whom has developed a new visual language, intellectual position or way of working within design.
My World is curated by the British Council.
