press release

Song Taos works represent his feelings about the world, with easy and comfortable methods, from the perspective of the generation that grew up in the fast developing China of the ’80s and ’90s. Between January and July 2003 he took nearly 20,000 photos of daily life in Shanghai. Of them he chose about 3,000 with which to create his work, The Floor, for ShanghART gallery. The black and white photos mounted on wooden parquet floor plates and sealed with hard vanish, covered the whole gallery floor.
