press release

The V&A's first major exhibition of the work of Vivienne Westwood, one of the most influential designers of the last 30 years. The exhibition is the largest ever dedicated to a British designer and features more than 150 designs mainly from the V&A's collection and Vivienne Westwood's personal archive. It examines Westwood's extraordinary career from the early punk days to grand ball gowns inspired by the V&A's historic collections. On show are provocative punk clothing worn by the Sex Pistols, Westwood's influential interpretations of the corset, crinoline and bustle, and designs inspired by the idea of 'Britishness' such as tartan and tweed.
