Charlemagne Palestine (b. 1945, Brooklyn / New York) is a composer, performer and visual artist. Like La Monte Young, Terry Riley and Philip Glass, he is one of the pioneers of Minimal Music and had great influence on musicians like Moondog, John Cale, and Nick Cave. Charlemagne Palestine studied at the New York University, Columbia University, and at the California Institute of the Arts.
