Edward Hopper (b. 1882 in Nyack/NY, d. 1967 in New York City) studied illustration and fine arts at the New York School of Art with Robert Henri. He made paintings, drawings, watercolors, and etchings and was one of the the foremost artists of the American Realism. In his works he presents scenes of lonely people in the midst of typical American landscapes or residential and urban architecture. His work influenced the photorealism and pop art in the 60s.
