Fra Angelico (Beato Angelico, Guido di Pietro, b. c. 1395, Vicchio di Mugello / Florence; d. 1455, Rome) was a painter of the Gothic and early Renaissance. He lived and worked in Florence, Orvieto and Rome. Significant works are: "The Last Judgment" , 1432-35; frescoes of San Marco, Florence, 1436; fresco cycle Capella Niccolina, Vatican, 1448; "9 Scenes from the Life of Christ," 1450.
