Mona Hatoum (b. 1952, Beirut/Lebanon) is a video filmmaker, sculptor, draftswoman and performer and she develops expansive, kinetic, site-specific installations. Her main themes are migration, exile and state control. Hatoum has been a participant in documenta (2017; 2002) and the biennials in Moscow (2013), Liverpool (2012), Istanbul (2001; 1995), and Venice (2005; 1995), among others. She studied at the Beirut University College, Beirut; The Byam Shaw School of Art, London; and The Slade School of Art, London.
