Pier Paolo Pasolini (b. 1922, Santo Stefano/Italy; d. 1975, Lido di Ostia/Italy) was a poet, novelist, journalist and one of the most important directors in film history. His best-known films were 1961, Accattone; ; 1962, Mamma Roma; 1964, Gastmahl der Liebe; 1967, Edipo Re - Bed of Violence; 1968, Teorema - Geometry of Love; 1969, Medea, with Maria Callas; 1971, Decameron; 1971; 1974, Erotic Tales from 1001 Nights; 1975, The 120 Days of Sodom.
On the night of November 1 to 2, 1975, Pier Paolo Pasolini was murdered under mysterious circumstances near Rome.
Pier Paolo Pasolini studied Romance philology and art history at the University of Bologna. He was editor of various literary magazines, including "Architrave", "Convivum", "Setaccio".
