Titian (Tizian, Tiziano Vecellio, b. 1488, Pieve di Cadore / Venice; d. 1576, Venice) was a painter of the High Renaissance and Mannerism. He worked in Venice, Padua, Rome and Augsburg. In 1533 he became court painter of Emperor Charles V. Titian was a student of Giovanni Bellini in Venice and later an employee of Giorgione. Famous works are "The three generations" 1513 ; "Assunta" 1518; "Bacchanalia" 1523; "Danae" 1553; "Madonna of the house Pesaro" 1926, amongst others.
