Wifredo Lam (1902 born in Sagua la Grande/Cuba, died 1982 in Paris) is one of the most notable Cuban artists of the twentieth century. He studied at the Academy Havana. In 1938 he joined the Surrealist group in Paris. 1959 he participated at the documenta 2 and 1964 at the documenta 3 in Kassel and 1972 at the Venice Biennale.
