short biography

Yoko Ono, born 1933 in Tokyo/Japan, moved to New York in 1953, where she lives and works today. She studied Music and Poetry there at the Sarah Lawrence College. In the 1960s she was part of the Fluxus movement. She participated at the Filmfestival Knokke with "Bottoms“ (1968); made the "bed-in" action in a hotel in Amsterdam with John Lennon (1969); founded the Plastic Ono Band and she became particularly well known for her performance and conceptual art.
