In her finely crafted, highly detailed paintings and drawings, Amy Cutler's scenes resemble children's illustrations that hark back to the Brothers Grimm. While not meant to be literal translations of children's stories, they do speak to the tradition of storytelling. Cutler's narratives are dark and quirky and invite many interpretations. Her work was part of the 2004 Whitney Biennial in New York. Amy Cutler was a visiting artist at the Kemper Museum.
