press release

The Hellenic American Union presented for the first time in Greece a retrospective exhibition of the art group Guerrilla Girls. The artist Artemis Potamianou was the curator of the exhibition.

The Guerrilla Girls were formed in April 1985 motivated by the painting and sculpture group exhibition held in MOMA, where the participation of women was less than 10% out of 169 white artists. The Guerrilla Girls managed to convert their reaction to this fact into a creative and productive action that carries on until today. The work of 22 years of activism was presented at the Hellenic American Union’s galleries in the form of huge printings – banners of their most characteristic works as well as selections from their most significant posters.
