Düsseldorf Art Academy professor and Berlin-based artist and Katharina Grosse (*1961) thinks and acts in color. Since the mid-1990s her works have expanded the medium of painting into the exhibition space. In her exhibition at the Museum Kunstpalast the museum space will be extended, covered and overlaid with masses of color, soil and panels of fabric.
Even Grosse’s paintings burst into the space with expansions of color. Her canvases, like her installations, take on considerable proportions and will be another focus of the exhibition. The viewer will reflect not only on the effects of color but also on Grosse’s radically redefined relationship between color and painting surface.
