The most ancient zoomorphic sculpture is the 35,000 year-old Lion-man of the Hohlenstein-Stadel. Since then, in many civilisations around the globe, sphinxes guard and protect cities against potential, often invisible, enemies.
Security gates and protocoles are the sphinx living descendants: they protect and guard borders but also by scanning them, they capture humans and devour their intimacy. Behind the panoramic windows of Schinkel Pavillon’s octagonal-shaped hall, a sphinx, engineered to guard planet Earth, protects it from mankind.
Equipped with motion detectors, it roars every time it senses a human presence and will devour anyone unable to answer its riddle.
