SU-MEI TSE
07/10/2017 - 08/04/2018
Marked by her cosmopolitan origins, between Europe and Asia, and by her interest in the world’s acoustic dimension, Su-Mei Tse’s praxis is permeated by issues such as time, memory, rhythm, and language.
Assuming the most varied of forms – sculptures, videos, photographs, installations –, her works invariably create shifts between different fields: between sound and image, music and space, nature and culture, mental space and perceptible experience. They explore the capacity of images, objects, and sounds to trigger something imaginary in the viewer.
This exhibition by Su-Mei Tse, which is the result of research work developed over several years in differing geographical contexts, starting with Italy and Japan, brings together a significant body of works specially produced for the occasion, including a new installation for Mudam’s Grand Hall.
