press release

Each of the dominant themes in the art of van Gogh (1853-1890), such as religion and labor (the Netherlands), light (Paris), utopia (Arles), and the antinomy between nature and religion (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence), should be understood in its own historical context. This exhibition places about thirty oil paintings of van Gogh in the context of paintings by related artists as well as diverse prints and source materials, aiming at letting van Gogh emerge as an entity.
