P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center presents 0 to 9: Artists Born in the 1990s, an exhibition of works on paper on view in the third floor hallway. This project represents a collaboration between P.S.1’s Curatorial and Eduction departments through its combination of artwork and community interaction. The exhibition represents a way of mapping P.S.1 by exploring and celebrating the burgeoning creative energies of its community.

The artists of the exhibition, all born in the 1990s, come from diverse backgrounds. Some are residents of the local Long Island City area and have grown up in a neighborhood in which P.S.1 and contemporary art are an important presence. Others are children who have visited the museum, either on a school trip, with their parents, with friends, or to participate in the Art Camp program. Others still are children of artists who have exhibited at P.S.1. Finally, some of the art on view is created by children of friends of P.S.1’s staff and colleagues.

0 to 9: Artists born in the 1990s is organized by P.S.1 Senior Curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, P.S.1 Education Director Bill Beirne, and Education Association Anthony Huberman.
