press release

Five fascinating exhibitions with works by national and international artists and designers.

The triennial programme, with more than 100 works by national and international artists, fashion designers & designers, responds to the use of narrative and documentary elements within contemporary art, fashion and design. The stage for the triennial is the city itself, consisting of a course along different culture houses, at walking distance from one another in Hasselt (Belgium). These houses are cultuurcentrum Hasselt, Kunstencentrum Z33, Modemuseum Hasselt, Nationaal Jenevermuseum and Ciap.

Starting and meeting point is the Tourist information office (Toerisme Hasselt). To the five exhibitions, SuperStories adds two city projects, an educational programme, theatre and dance productions, lectures by participating artists,...

Furthermore, SuperStories offers day and weekend packages for (groups of) tourists. Groups and companies can book tailor-made guided tours and late night visits.

All this results in a dynamic project which does not limit itself to just presenting the work. The artists and (fashion) designers are actively involved in the event. SuperStories doesn’t just ‘present’ but also ‘creates’. Don’t miss it!

“Superstories Part I” - Cultuurcentrum Hasselt By analogy with the ‘stories’ theme, the Cultuurcentrum will present artists who work with digital and audiovisual media: William Cobbing, Stefaan Dheedene, Nick Ervinck, Cristina Lucas, Aernout Mik,…

“Superstories Part II” – arts centre Z33 The theme of the triennial is brought in connection with architectonic conditions. The building of Z33 itself, as an exponent of post-war construction, is the point of departure: Atelier NL, Maarten Baas, Aldo Bakker, Bram Bogart, Bram Boo, Boym Partners Inc., Harmen Brethouwer, Casimir, Krijn de Koning, …

“Superstories Part III” - Modemuseum Hasselt The Modemuseum Hasselt presents work by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, combined with the sculptures by Eugène van Lamsweerde. Additionally, the Modemuseum highlights work by individually operating designers and artists, young talents, and established names such as Carel Blotkamp, Marie Ilse Bourlanges, Christophe Coppens, Linde Hermans, Ted Noten, …

“Superstories Part IV The End” - Nationaal Jenevermuseum The presentations in the Nationaal Jenevermuseum will tie in with the permanent installation: Leo Copers, Guy Rombouts …
