A holi-city #03: TRAVERSATA - Nicola Sansò

A trans Pavilion mit TRAVERSATA ist ein Modul des DMY Extended vom 9.-13. Juni 2010

Traversata gibt die Idee der Reise wieder und präsentiert Reflexionen und Fragen des italienischen Künstlers und Kurators Nicola Sansò zu Themen wie Transition, Re-Lokalisation, Entfremdung, Fluidität der Zeit und des Raumes, Verlust und Flucht. In Traversata tritt die Transition als Prozess des Versetzens, der Verbindung und des Kontaktes zwischen verschiedenen Kulturen hervor. Es verschieben, verlagern und versetzen sich Dinge und Menschen. Der Blick öffnet sich auf fragmentierte, gespaltene und sich transformierende Landschaften, von den Ruinen der ehemaligen Stahlwerke Italsider in Taranto, über die Kathedrale von Giò Ponti in Taranto bis hin zu den urbanen Agglomerationen in Berlin-Mitte. Die Installation mit stark evokativem Charakter zeigt durch die Überlagerung mehrerer Orte ein holistisches Bild über die Beziehung zwischen Körper und gestaltetem Raum, zwischen Individuum und Umwelt. Traversata lädt den Zuschauer ein, die Schwelle des A trans Pavilions zu überschreiten (traversa¬re), um die Leere des Ausstellungsraums mit seinen ausgewählten Fotografien auf neue Art zu erleben.

/Traversata takes up the idea of the journey and presents reflections and questions posed by Italian artist and curator Nicola Sansò on themes such as transition, re-localization, alienation, the fluidity of time and space, loss and flight. Foregrounded by Traversata is transition as a process of dislocation, reconnection, and contact between various cultures. Displaced, realigned, and dislocated are both objects and people. A perspective opens up onto fragmented, riven, and fragmented landscapes, places in states of transformation – ranging from the ruins of the former Italsider steel works in Taranto, to Giò Ponti’s cathedral in Taranto, to urban agglomerations in Berlin-Mitte. With its strongly evocative character, this installation superimposes various locations in order to display a holistic image of the relationship between bodies and designed space, between individual and environment. Traversata invites spectators to traverse (traversare) the threshold of the A trans Pavilion and to experience the emptiness of the exhibition space – with its small number of selected photographs – in a new way.
