press release

Altro campo is the name of the environmental intervention that Eva Marisaldi will realize for the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea of Trento in the meadow behind the Palazzo delle Albere. The intervention, that will open on June 11th, 2005 at 10:00 PM and will occur during the course of the summer, will unveil an series of encounters and parties, a ambience where people can meet every Wednesday evening to listen to a DJ set and sip on a cocktail. It is an intervention that the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea wanted to entrust to a young artist, but one with the capability to mediate both the illustrious spaces that conserve the eighteenth century works of the Palazzo delle Albere, site of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto (Mart) in Trento, and the light-hearted evenings of the summer season.

“I worked as if I had to design a party for my friends”, says Eva Marisaldi. Parked cars, like those of a drive-in, Chinese lanterns in the form of gas tanks, lakes of refracting balls, trees of colored acetate: these are just some of the elements that will mark the space, framed in the dark of the summer night with mournful lights, half-way between the star-filled sky and domestic furnishings, between the poetry of fables and the banality of the everyday. In fact, this is one of the major prerogatives of the Italian artist, to flicker a sense of depth, a yearning for mystery, from the surface of things, for the rest realized with the simplicity of a creative handy-man.

The evening of the inauguration – that will continue the on-going party at the Galleria Civica with the opening of the Galleria dell’Amore and the round of performances by the IPG, founded by Marina Abramovic – the public will be able to assist in a live sound performance by Enrico Serotti and Giorgio Lavagna (True Human Shot).
