An exhibition project of the German Society for Christian Art, the Art Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising based in St. Paul, the Evangelical Lutheran parishes Erlöserkirche, St. Markus and Immanuel-Nazareth and the Catholic parish Heilig Geist in Munich, the Chair of Religious Studies and History of Religions of the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University and the class of Schirin Kretschmann at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.

What does man seek? This question seems more topical than ever today: Despite great technical and medical achievements, uncertainty determines the lives of people worldwide. The ongoing climate crisis, the war in the middle of Europe and the Corona pandemic have torn apart the sense of "normality". These are events that polarize the public, shake fundamental, democratic values and call social cohesion into question in a serious way. The longing for love, security, peace, health and a constructive future seems unfulfillable. The exhibition project In Search... wants to approach the question of what man is searching for in its own way: Art in its diverse range makes human search movements perceptible to the senses. It involves people in the fundamental, existential activity of seeing and looking and thus makes it an essential part of the work of art. The encounter with the work of art can surprise, irritate, change people - even if only temporarily, transitory. Nevertheless, works of art are able to provide orientation by showing how existential, complex and contradictory our human searching and longing is.
