Baranja Art Colony 2009

Baranja Art Colony does not have predefined conceptual framework; the focus each year stems from the synergies of the location and the invited artists. Last year the focus of the colony was derived from the location itself, present in all the works of the utmost intimistic (Ruzica Zajec) to historically intoned (Mark Pasalic) or socially conditioned (Zoran Pavelic i Marko Markovic).

Given the fact that last year BUK was held on the Green island close to the bank of the Danube in the works of several artists we encounter the motive of the river in its both symbolic or geopolitical meaning (Sandro Djukic, Vlatko Vincek, Margareta Lekic, Mijatovic Kata).

The participants of the BUK 2009 were: Margareta Lekic, Marko Markovic, Marko Pasalic Kata Mijatovic, Ruzica Zajec, Sandro Djukic, Spartak Dulic, Vlatko Vincek, Zoran Pavelic.

Baranja Art Colony is a traditional art event was founded in Baranja in 1975. Since when BUK was held annually until 2006. on location Batina - Green Island – Puskas (organized by the Municipality of Draz 1998).

Since 2004., within the traditional format of an art colony, BUK had created a space for contemporary art practice, as well as for a more visible and active role of the arts in reflecting the specificities of local culture, history and everyday life. Since that period, thanks to the participation of the most important artists of contemporary Croatian art scene, BUK has revitalized its role on the Croatian cultural map.

For the past three years BUK took place in the historical complex of Tikveš Castle in Kopacki Rit Nature Park to be in 2009. returned to Batina on a popular Green island resort, close to the Danube. In this environment, participants in this year's BUK reaced once again in an uncompromising way to the given context.
