2016 Selectors

Anya Gallaccio (b. 1963. Scotland, UK) is a British installation artist based in London. Gallaccio studied at Kingston Polytechnic (1984–5), and Goldsmiths College, London (1985–8). A core aspect of her work is change and transformation. Both the ephemerality and site-specificity of all her work make it notoriously difficult to document. Gallaccio is careful to discard all the material related to an installation once it has closed and resists photographic documentation; in this sense her work is anti-monumental, unconcerned with a legacy outside the memories of those who witnessed it. Recent solo exhibitions include Anya Gallaccio, MCA San Diego, California, USA, (2015) Anya Gallaccio, Lehmann Maupin, New York, USA, (2015) Anya Gallaccio, Silas Marder Gallery, Bridgehampton, NY (2015), Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, California (2014), STROKE, Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh, Scotland (2014). Selected group exhibitions include About Trees, Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern (2015), Beyond Limits. Sotheby’s at Chatsworth: A Selling Exhibition, Chatsworth, Derbyshire, UK (2015), Then For Now, Delfina Foundation, London, UK (2015), Future Seasons Past, Lehmann Maupin, New York, NY (2015). Gallaccio is represented by Thomas Dane Gallery, London.

Alan Kane (b. 1961, Nottingham, UK) is based in London. He has worked on Solo exhibitions at galleries including the Whitechapel Gallery, London (2011), Turner Contemporary, Margate (2006 & 2014), and the Showroom, London (2000) and projects including Life Class / Today’s News, for Channel 4 and Art Angel (2009), and The Trongate Codex for The Modern Institute, Glasgow (2012) and The Stratford Hoard for Art on the Underground (2008). He is currently participating in The British Art Show 8. Kane’s work takes diverse forms and often features collaborative, found or readymade components. It plays with the entrenched systems and values in culture, in particular the perceived hierarchies that govern different art forms.

Haroon Mirza was born in London in 1977 where he lives and works. He has a BA in Painting from Winchester School of Art, an MA in Design Critical Practice and Theory from Goldsmiths College (2006) and an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design (2007).
