Candice Breitz - Re-Animations
This September Modern Art Oxford presents the first major solo exhibition in a UK public gallery by Candice Breitz. Breitz has established a growing reputation for her sound and video installations that examine the language of popular culture as it is mediated, objectified and assimilated through films, television and popular music. The exhibition will show recent work and a new video installation.

Jim Lambie - Male Stripper
Glasgow artist Jim Lambie will be creating a new sculptural installation for Modern Art Oxford's Upper Gallery this September. This is the first of a series of exhibitions and projects in which artists respond to the gallery's single largest space.
From the psychedelic taped floor works, Zobop, to glitter covered turntables Lambie creates sculptures and interventions that energise the gallery space. His interest in the transforming power of pop and soul music, and his playful use of materials have led him to make some of the most memorable works to be seen in the past five years.
Lambie transforms discarded belongings gleaned from junk shops into shamanistic objects of power that embrace the hedonism of popular culture to create works in which 'most people can find a way into the conversation' (Jim Lambie, 2002).
