press release

Jack Tilton inaugurates his new Upper East Side gallery at 8 East 76th Street with a large group show celebrating 22 years of the gallery’s exhibitions. On view from March 12-May 12, 2005, the exhibition will feature works by many artists who have shown with the gallery since its inception in 1983. An accompanying catalogue including an essay by art critic and video artist Laura Cottingham will be available.

For over two decades, Tilton has shown hundreds of contemporary artists, many of whom have become prominent figures on the international stage. He is known for supporting emerging artists, who work in all media, and for his special interest in cutting-edge contemporary Asian art. This show brings together paintings, sculpture, photography, video, and installation art by dozens of artists who have been featured in solo or group exhibitions at the Tilton gallery. Artists include: Francis Alÿs, Xu Bing, Patty Chang, Wim Delvoye, Marlene Dumas, Nicole Eisenman, Douglas Gordon, David Hammons, Lyle Ashton Harris, Danica Phelps, Rebecca Purdum, Huang Yong Ping, Kiki Smith, Fred Tomaselli, Richard Tuttle and the Dutch collective Atelier van Lieshout.
