press release

Sudley House and the Lady Lever Art Gallery are both part of National Museums Liverpool, a group of museums and galleries that house a vast collection of art and historic objects.

We are pleased to be able to show a small selection of the paintings from the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Sudley House, while the Lady Lever's South End galleries are being restored.

The display of nine paintings includes work by artists such as Joshua Reynolds, John Francis Rigaud and René Theodore Berthon.

The Lady Lever Art Gallery houses one of the UK’s finest collections of fine and decorative art. The South End galleries are currently being restored to their former glory, but there is still lots to see and do in the rest of the gallery.

National Museums Liverpool comprises eight venues. Our collections are among the most important and varied in Europe and contain everything from Impressionist paintings and rare beetles to a lifejacket from the Titanic. We attract more than 2.7m visitors every year. Our venues are the Museum of Liverpool, World Museum, the Walker Art Gallery, Merseyside Maritime Museum, International Slavery Museum, Border Force National Museum, Sudley House and the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
