Opening: Wednesday, 14 May, 2008, 6 - 9 pm

Since 2001 VIENNA INTERNATIONAL APARTMENT has provided a new platform for the arts. Twice a year, in spring and in autumn, it brings together artists from different cultures and backgrounds and opens an arena for discussion on issues involving contemporary art practice. Always located in a privat living space VIENNA INTERNATIONAL APARTMENT moved from Vienna to Turku, Finland in 2003, to Helsinki in 2006, and further to Brussels in 2007. As an independent space it deals with the limits and boundaries between private and public spaces. common-place:

For the spring exhibition 2008 four artists from Belgium and Austria are invited: Aglaia Konrad Willem Oorebeek Krüger & Pardeller

The gap between public and private, between architectural utopias and every day life as well as the interaction with the individual apartment establish the common field of action. An additional aspect of privacy results from the everyday working situation of the participants: they are two couples that constantly (Krüger & Pardeller) or selectively (Aglaia Konrad and Willem Oorebeek) work together and who specially within the setting of the VIENNA INTERNATIONAL APARTMENT reflect upon their situation of lived privacy.
