On October 30, 2010, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery opened the exhibition « Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture. », curated by David C. Ward and Jonathan D. Katz. A few seconds of « A Fire in my Belly » (1987), a film by David Wojnarowicz (1954 - 1992) aroused ire among the Catholic League and two Republican members of Congress. Secretary G. Wayne Clough of the Smithsonian hastily removed the video from the exhibition. In response, the P.P.O.W. gallery, the Estate of David Wojnarowicz and Jonathan D. Katz have encouraged the screening of this censored work outside the Smithsonian. The Yvon Lambert gallery would like to support their efforts by presenting this film in its exhibition space at 108 Rue Vieille du Temple.
