press release

A joint exhibition of the work of Dieter Roth, organised by the National Gallery of Iceland and Reykjavík Art Museum for the Reykjavík Arts Festival – and also the first major exhibition of his work in Iceland. Dieter Roth’s art will be presented in a broad context including installations, graphic art, sculptures and video works.

Swiss-born Dieter Roth, who lived in Iceland for many years, belongs to the group of artists who, at an international level, revolutionised prevailing views about art in the 1960s. In recent years his work has received many awards and he is considered a leading contemporary artist. Large retrospectives of his works have been held recently, for example at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2004.
