press release

You may think you have seen them before: in an American movie, in the gym, at the flea market, in the shopping mall or on the package holiday to Mallorca. The sculptures of the American sculptor Duane Hanson are the spitting images of real, breathing people. They illustrate life in the modern consumer society. With equal parts tenderness, humour and barbed criticism they portray the consumer culture of the post-war era and its effect on white middleclass lifestyle.

The exhibition presents around 25 sculptures by Duane Hanson who belongs to the same generation as Andy Warhol.
